The week after Thanksgiving and I’m sure the leftovers made it into to your lunch box all week. Save room, Christmas is coming and something about a goose getting fat. Enjoy the Roast!

Curious Stories from the Week
🇨🇳China announced this week that they would be judging all citizens on behavior by 2020. They actually started it four years ago, and it freakishly looks like this Black Mirrors episode. [Black Mirror on Netflix]
🚀This past week was pretty exciting for space science, with the successful landing on the InSight lander on Mars. It’s looking for marsquakes, people. While Mars is on the brain, I love this SciFi with documentary moments. [National Geographic called MARS]

🧬In other news from China, a genome scientist has successfully genetically engineered an embryo to be resistant to HIV. Knowledge of which has made the hairs on the neck of many a scientist on edge. Couple this and the story about, “China to Judge Social Rating” above and I know we have a good SciFi novel in the making. [CRISPR technology [Video]]
*And Act II of this novel, it wasn’t just an embryo. It was an embryo, baby, and…..more babies.
✍️Have you ever wanted your emails to be read and your posts commented on? The Hustle offers some excellent advice to fix bad writing. Maybe even that sticky note to your co-workers on why they shouldn’t eat your lunch.
🌎Climate change matters! Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the White House released a report about the potentially coming threats from climate change. Worth a read and a think.
📷Soon as I saw this photography project, I fell in love with it. See how this woman documented herself and her son over time, in photos. It’s so awesome!
🧭Right after the Rebelle Rally ended this last October, I insured Team Fast ‘n Curious was registered for 2019. The Rebelle is an amazing navigation and off-road driving competition, but it’s also a significant “crucible” of mental toughness for women. Our website has been updated, and we are actively seeking marketing partners and donations to get us to the rally.
Book Notes
This is what I am currently reading. The articles that comprise this book are fantastic. Especially the one on “Crucibles of Leadership” by Robert Thomas. From the Rebelle Rally to major setback running a company, leaders (people) are put in crucibles, by why do some emerge better and some not?
Quote I’m Pondering
“happiness … is not a function of your circumstances; it’s a function of your outlook on life.”

What’s with the name, Sunday Roast and Stories Mindfully Curated? Sunday is a good day to do a weekly review. A time to take stock in the past week and get ready for the next. Which is always done with a fine coffee beverage, hence the Roast part. Through the week I share articles and stories that mattered in the long-run, not bits that are of pop culture or political. My goal is always to seek information that is as unbiased as possible, interesting, or enriching. In other words, Mindfully Curated for you.
Did you enjoy this issue?
